Why you should have a design consultation

When you take advantage of the design consultation service at our flooring store, you’ll speak with someone who has the knowledge and experience about various products; they'll know how to coordinate colors, shapes, and sizes. The designer will be able to take your ideas and turn them into reality by simplifying, organizing, prioritizing your needs, and keeping you focused. You’ll walk out with a plan for your interior design, and all your questions and concerns will be addressed.

Why are design consultations for floor covering companies necessary?

“Design from the floor up” is a designer motto because the floor sets the entire room's tone and possibly even the house. That means to decide on the floor and its style and then coordinate walls and furnishings around it, so you have one cohesive look. While nothing needs to be an exact match, it does need to harmonize; for example, if you’d like a California cottage style for the floor, but you select furnishings that are country rustic, the effect will be jarring.

Keep in mind that choosing flooring isn't such a simple matter. The choices are overwhelming, and the designer will keep you focused on your needs and priorities to select the best one for you. There’s also the matter of room transitions. While you can have different floorings for two side-by-side and open rooms, keep in mind that they’ll work best when the colors and textures are appropriately coordinated.

What should I expect?

Be prepared to answer questions about your lifestyle and the room in which the renovation is to take place. Don’t hold back; the more information the design consultant has, the better your needs will be met. For example, is your family large with kids and pets? Do you entertain frequently? Is the room large or small, sunny or dark? Does the room have a lot of foot traffic? Is it a center of family activity or used only for guests? What did you like and dislike about the space in its present state? While you’re at it, bring any available photos, layouts, design pages, swatches, samples, and paint chips.
